Lisa Whittington-Slater
Taking on learning is a commitment, sometimes a really big commitment, which is why many of our learners will have the guidance and support of our Outreach Manager, Lisa, as they begin their journey. From talking learners through the enrolment process, to discussing potential project ideas and the overall benefits of being part of our learning community, Lisa is a kind and caring person who is always just a phone call away for anyone with a question.
Lisa’s role sits across our Postgraduate Certificate in Digital & Collaborative Learning, our Postgraduate Certificate in Leading Change for Good (which she also took part in herself!), and our Master of Contemporary Education. She joins our events, presents in person or online to potential learners and organisations, and works closely with our enrolments team and programme teams to make sure our learners are taken care of at every step of their journey.
For the future Lisa sees the ability to adapt and change as a critical piece of the puzzle. Through her work, her worldwide explorations and her own personal values, Lisa knows the importance of enjoying and embracing change, especially in the context of the world we live in now. This is how we will continue to move forward and address some of the issues facing us.
Speaking of worldwide explorations, Lisa’s second greatest achievement is reaching Everest Base Camp with her husband. However her greatest achievement is her family, specifically her two children. If she could sum up life in a song it would be Luther Vandross’ ‘So Amazing’, which we think really reflects Lisa’s incredibly positive attitude.
Her superpower is undoubtedly her way with people – anyone who’s crossed her path will know that no matter who you are or what question or problem you have, Lisa will give you her undivided attention. Her favourite saying is “life is better with others” and a key value for Lisa is everyone having a platform to shine. She’s a safe set of hands and her big heart means that she builds relationships with anyone she comes across – a rare and magical skill! All of us at The Mind Lab feel safe knowing that she is guiding our learners as they begin their journey with us.
