Maisan Leung's role is our International Marketing Manager which includes formulating both business and marketing strategies to tap into new international markets and further the team's excellence and impact in education as well as deliver marketing communications across academyEX.
Maisan has worked in various teaching and marketing roles in education over the last 15 years. She has four years of experience in ESOL teaching and academic counselling in both Auckland and Palmerston North. Before this, Maisan was an international student obtaining a Master of Language Teaching (First Class Honour) as well as a Trinity College TESOL Certificate, both from The University of Auckland. She found these experiences enabled her to understand the ecosystem of the international student market and further recognise the difficulties of international students that are studying in New Zealand.
For the future of education, Maisan believes that no matter how we leverage technology - we should always be putting our learners at the centre. She embraces new marketing technologies and relies on market and customer data to formulate the most relevant marketing and communications strategies. Back in 2022, she won a marketing award from the Marketing Interactive Magazine for converting the physical Baby Crawling Competition into a virtual one, using the AR filter on Instagram. This showed how she leveraged technology, giving their audience a new way to experience the brand and its value.
