Rose is our Pou Tautua, an incredibly important role driving support for both staff and students when it comes to Pasefika and Māori culture and presence across the organisation. She focuses on providing ongoing and in depth support for Pasefika learners who have signed up to any of The Mind Lab or Tech Futures Lab programmes. As part of our Māori and Pacific support team she is always keen and readily available to connect with learners, particularly through the means of talanoa, in person or online, and she is a great support for anyone no matter what type of assistance they are looking for.

With a Bachelor of Arts, Double Major in History & Criminology, and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary School Teaching from the University of Auckland, Rose’s experience of and knowledge about the world of education means she can lend a helping hand or a word of advice wherever needed.

If she could meet anyone from the past, Rose would love to sit down and share stories and advice with Queen Esther. On the other end of the scale Rose’s views on the future is that here in Aotearoa we will need to keep up with the market and the world of 'contactless' contact. This means more remote working, flexible hours and upskilling in a range of different means of communication e.g. in person, digital, reader/writer. Moving to this style of working will give us all the ability to balance work and life, and everything else in between!

Rose is a kind, caring and incredibly welcoming member of the academyEX whānau, who always puts our learners at the centre. We know our learners will always feel comfortable and empowered in their learning journey with Rose by their side.
