What you’ll learn
PREKURE Health Coach Preparation overview
Develop the skills and confidence to support tangata whaiora in primary and community health settings. You’ll learn how to apply health coaching approaches, work within your scope of practice, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and reflect on your own practice to provide safe, effective and person-centered support
Outcome 1
Work in partnership with tangata whaiora
Support people to identify strengths, barriers and risks that impact their hauora and wellbeing, and use coaching techniques to develop practical action plans for positive behavior change.
Outcome 2
Work collaboratively within a health team
Understand the Health Coach role, scope of practice, and how to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical roles across primary and community healthcare.
Outcome 3
Connect people with services and support
Learn how to identify and navigate community, government and online resources, and connect tangata whaiora with services relevant to their wellbeing plan.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
What you need to register
Criteria 1
Current role or placement
You'll need to be employed in a Health Coach role as part of the national Integrated Primary Mental Health and Addiction (IPMHA) programme. You must be newly employed in the role or have not previously received national training.
Criteria 2
Access to health coaching practice
Your role or placement must enable you to participate in authentic health coaching opportunities as part of your learning and assessment.
Criteria 3
Workplace support
You’ll need employer support, appropriate supervision, and a formal workplace learning agreement in place before the programme begins.
