Talita is the master of planning and organisation, tying in perfectly with her role as programme coordinator across our Leading Beyond Sustainability and Internet of things for Sustainability micro-credentials. She is also responsible for managing and uploading content to our learning platform, Ako Mai.

Her kind and patient nature means that learners can always call on her for help, as she embodies our organisational value, manaaki.

With a Bachelor of Arts, focused on Pacific Islands Studies and Anthropology, Talita is also an active member of our Te Ara Kōtihi working group, and helps guide the entire organisation when it comes to pasifika culture and how to ensure these learners are supported in the ways they need. She actively contributes to our ManaakiFono sessions, where we invite Māori and Pasifika learners to join us for online drop-in sessions and offer support and guidance, as well as just a place to come and chat.

Talita lives our organisational belief of the importance of lifelong learning and recently completed The Mind Lab’s Postgraduate Certificate in Leading Change for Good. She also runs her own side hustle, Melita’s Crowns, where she creates beautiful flowered head garlands with inspiration from her Tuvaluan and Tokelauan roots.

If she could have a conversation with anyone from history, Talita would be choosing between Maya Angelou, Epeli Hauofa and Tupac – all interesting chats no doubt! And her secret super power is that she can eat a lot of chocolate… and she means a lot!
