Mahdiyeh Moore
Mahdiyeh truly enjoys her role as the B2B Marketing Manager because it allows her to connect with people and dive into the fascinating world of PR and communications. She's thrilled about creating meaningful connections and making a positive impact in society.
Her journey began at Northwestern University in Illinois, where she earned her B.S. in Journalism and Integrated Marketing Communications, with a Minor in Sociology. Her dedication to service has been a constant thread throughout her career, as she has worked with healthcare and non-profit organisations, leveraging her expertise to make a positive impact.
If her life had a playlist, it would kick off with the lively beats of "Around the World" by Daft Punk, reflecting her exciting journey from academia to the professional world. Another tune that captures Mahdiyeh's adventurous spirit is "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac. It perfectly sums up her decision to take a leap of faith, leaving her life in Qatar behind to embrace new experiences in Aotearoa.
One of Mahdiyeh’s most memorable experiences was being accompanied by heavily armed security guards while filming a documentary in Rio de Janeiro prior to the 2014 World Cup. This documentary was about Rio’s Catadors (garbage pickers in Portuguese) living in the favelas surrounding the Gericino garbage dump (a 60-million ton mountain of trash and one of the world’s largest open-air landfills). In a country where recycling is in its infancy, these pickers comb through for recyclable plastic and metal. Their livelihoods and motivation was a surreal eye-opening experience that Mahdiyeh will always cherish.
Looking ahead, Mahdiyeh is excited about her role in public relations, strategic communications, and marketing because of its inherent focus on people. She thrives on meeting individuals from diverse backgrounds, forging meaningful connections, and creating impactful change.
